The portfolio of Extreme Networks switches has been expanded with the ExtremeSwitching X465 family, which is represented by six models with 'copper' ports (the 'optics' release is expected soon). Essentially, ExtremeSwitching X465 is the third generation and a logical continuation of the Summit X460 and Summit X460G2 switches. They are considered 'universal' in the sense that they can be installed at any level of the network, both at the access level and in the core or distribution. , , , in fact, the X465 are the first switches that support all these technologies simultaneously.
The line consists of four gigabit and two multi-gigabit switches, all models support stacking. However, only the multi-gigabit models support ‘Insight architecture’, hence they have increased RAM and CPU.

X465 switches also support while the total PoE budget of some models can reach up to 3500W.
X465 can be used as a ‘Control Bridge’ for organizing the architecture of and connecting port extenders V400/V300. The V300 series VPEX can be powered from the X465 via PoE++ (90W or 60W)
For example, by connecting and powering 48 VPEX from X465 switches, and utilizing ‘Insight architecture’ for setting up VM with firewall + NAT, or a WiFi controller, the network architecture can be significantly simplified, as well as saving on power and other capital infrastructure.
