The Xiaomi Mi Box S Android TV box was introduced back in the fourth quarter of 2018. The device features an updated design and a new remote, although the internal components remain the same as its predecessor. Now Xiaomi has updated the box, originally launched with Android 8.1 TV, to Android 9 Pie.
The size of the update is just over 600 MB and includes a number of bug fixes present in the previous software version. In the new software, the issue causing the Chromecast feature to malfunction was resolved, freezing during content playback in some applications was fixed, H.264 decoding errors were corrected, audio and video desynchronization when playing audio on Bluetooth devices was eliminated. Additionally, the HDMI compatibility issue has been fixed, along with many other bugs from previous software versions.
Unfortunately, the firmware cannot be installed on the original Xiaomi Mi Box, despite both devices having the same hardware platform.
