Kent Overstreet, developer of the Bcachefs filesystem, reported a 40% reduction in the number of errors appearing during the use of the testing tools compared to last month, as well as a significant decrease in reports of critical issues. As a result of the work done, the overall code quality has improved and the flow of errors has decreased. The testing bot Syzbot caught most of the trivial errors like "oh, we forgot to check this" and now mostly finds genuinely rare and interesting situations.
Kent is still aware of several critical issues, such as the online fsck problem or the data structure packing (compaction) issue, as well as problems causing some tests to hang due to shortcomings in the code for limiting write intensity at the block level.
