The release of the free PaaS platform Cozystack 0.11.0, built on Kubernetes, has been published. The project aims to provide a ready-made platform for hosting providers and a framework for building private and public clouds. The platform is installed directly on the servers and covers all aspects of preparing the infrastructure for providing managed services. Cozystack allows launching and providing Kubernetes clusters, databases, and virtual machines. The platform's code is available on GitHub and is distributed under the Apache-2.0 license.
Jako základní technologický stack se používá Talos Linux a Flux CD. Obrazy systému, jádra a potřebných modulů jsou předem vytvářeny a aktualizovány atomárně, což umožňuje obejít se bez takových komponent jako je dkms a správce balíčků, a zaručuje stabilní provoz. Je nabízen jednoduchý způsob instalace v prázdném datovém centru pomocí PXE a debianovského instalátoru talos-bootstrap.
Platforma zahrnuje svobodnou implementaci síťové infrastruktury (fabric) založené na Kube-OVN, a používá Cilium pro organizaci servisní sítě, MetalLB pro vyhlášení služeb ven. Úložiště je realizováno na LINSTOR, kde je nabízeno použití ZFS jako základní vrstvy pro úložiště a DRBD pro replikaci. Je zde přednastavený monitorovací stack založený na VictoriaMetrics a Grafana. Pro spuštění virtuálních strojů se používá technologie KubeVirt, která umožňuje spouštět klasické virtuální stroje přímo v kontejnerech Kubernetes a již má všechny potřebné integrace s Cluster API pro spuštění spravovaných Kubernetes klastrů uvnitř „hardwarového“ Kubernetes klastru.
V nové verzi:
- Support for S3 has been added. A basic implementation of SeaweedFS in Cozystack has been prepared. A Kubernetes-COSI driver has been written for automatic ordering of S3 buckets. Support for automatic resizing of volumes has been added to the chart containing SeaweedFS.
- Network isolation between tenants has been implemented. Significant work has been done to improve network isolation between tenants, fixing bugs and fully reworking network policies.
- The user interface has been updated. All service icons have been replaced. The dashboard has been redesigned to display only the necessary information in ResourceView. The ability to specify specific resources to be displayed by listing them in a special role -dashboard-resources has been added.
- A Development Guide section has been added to the documentation, and the installation instructions for Hetzner have been updated.
- The Cilium network system has been updated to version 1.16, which includes a patch for automatic device detection prepared by Cozystack developers.
- The issue with the garbage collector in tenant Kubernetes clusters has been resolved.
- The issue with HTTP and HTTPS traffic forwarding using ingress in the tenant Kubernetes cluster has been resolved.
- The snapshot-controller and object-storage-controller have been added.
- LINSTOR has been updated to version 1.28.
- Talos Linux has been updated to version 1.7.6.
- Kube-OVN has been transitioned to a build from the stable base.
