Je zd\u016frazn\u011bno, \u017ee p\u0159id\u011blen\u00ed \u010d\u00edsla 1.0 po 21 letech v\u00fdvoje znamen\u00e1 uzn\u00e1n\u00ed p\u0159ipravenosti projektu a jeho souladu s po\u017eadavky na funk\u010dnost modern\u00edch inicia\u010dn\u00edch syst\u00e9m\u016f a spr\u00e1vce slu\u017eeb.      <\/p>\n<p>Projekt se vyv\u00edj\u00ed v\u00fdvoj\u00e1\u0159i distribuce GNU Guix System jako alternativa ke syst\u00e9mu init SysV, kter\u00fd podporuje z\u00e1vislosti. \u0158\u00edd\u00edc\u00ed d\u00e9mon a n\u00e1stroje Shepherd jsou naps\u00e1ny v jazyce Guile (jedna z implementac\u00ed jazyka Scheme), kter\u00fd se tak\u00e9 pou\u017e\u00edv\u00e1 k definov\u00e1n\u00ed nastaven\u00ed a parametr\u016f spou\u0161t\u011bn\u00ed slu\u017eeb. Shepherd je ji\u017e pou\u017e\u00edv\u00e1n v distribuci GNU Guix System a je tak\u00e9 c\u00edlen na vyu\u017eit\u00ed v GNU\/Hurd, ale m\u016f\u017ee fungovat na jak\u00e9mkoli syst\u00e9mu kompatibiln\u00edm s POSIX, pro kter\u00fd je k dispozici jazyk Guile.      <\/p>\n<p>Shepherd prov\u00e1d\u00ed \u00falohy spou\u0161t\u011bn\u00ed a zastavov\u00e1n\u00ed slu\u017eeb, p\u0159i\u010dem\u017e zohled\u0148uje vz\u00e1jemn\u00e9 vztahy mezi slu\u017ebami, dynamicky ur\u010duje a spou\u0161t\u00ed slu\u017eby, od kter\u00fdch z\u00e1vis\u00ed vybran\u00e1 slu\u017eba. Shepherd tak\u00e9 podporuje definici konflikt\u016f mezi slu\u017ebami a br\u00e1n\u00ed jejich sou\u010dasn\u00e9mu prov\u00e1d\u011bn\u00ed.
