Rozhodli jsme se p\u0159edstavit projekty (Kata Containers, Zuul, FATE a CommunityBridge), kter\u00e9 se ned\u00e1vno p\u0159ipojily k dv\u011bma velk\u00fdm fond\u016fm, a o tom, jak\u00fdm sm\u011brem se vyv\u00edjej\u00ed.<\/p>\n

Jak se m\u00e1 OpenStack Foundation<\/h2>\n

\nOpenStack Foundation (OSF) byla zalo\u017eena v roce 2012, aby podpo\u0159it<\/a><\/noindex> vyv\u00edjela otev\u0159enou cloudovou platformu OpenStack. Prvn\u00ed projekt se zab\u00fdv\u00e1 v\u00fdvojem chr\u00e1n\u011bn\u00fdch virtu\u00e1ln\u00edch stroj\u016f, jejich\u017e v\u00fdkon je srovnateln\u00fd s v\u00fdkonem kontejner\u016f Kubernetes a Docker. VM se spou\u0161t\u00ed rychlost\u00ed nep\u0159esahuj\u00edc\u00ed 100 ms, a proto najdou uplatn\u011bn\u00ed v cloudu pro roz\u0161i\u0159ov\u00e1n\u00ed v\u00fdpo\u010detn\u00edch zdroj\u016f \u201ena m\u00edru\u201c. Mimochodem, na v\u00fdvoji Kata se ji\u017e pod\u00edl\u00ed n\u011bkolik velk\u00fdch IaaS poskytovatel\u016f.<\/p>\n

Druh\u00fd projekt \u2014 Zuul \u2014 je CI\/CD syst\u00e9m. Prov\u00e1d\u00ed paraleln\u00ed testov\u00e1n\u00ed modifikac\u00ed k\u00f3du a zabra\u0148uje potenci\u00e1ln\u00edm selh\u00e1n\u00edm.<\/p>\n

Perspektivy fondu.<\/b> V OpenStack Foundation \u0159\u00edkaj\u00ed, \u017ee zm\u011bnou sm\u011bru v\u00fdvoje mohou pos\u00edlit komunitu talentovan\u00fdmi v\u00fdvoj\u00e1\u0159i. Nicm\u00e9n\u011b ne v\u0161ichni si to mysl\u00ed \u2014 na kv\u011btnov\u00e9 konferenci pova\u017eoval zakladatel Canonical Mark Shuttleworth pojmenoval<\/a><\/noindex> roz\u0161i\u0159ov\u00e1n\u00ed portfolia fondu za \u201echybu\u201c. Podle jeho n\u00e1zoru OpenStack Foundation neefektivn\u011b vyu\u017e\u00edv\u00e1 zdroje, co\u017e se nakonec podep\u00ed\u0161e na kvalit\u011b jejich hlavn\u00edho produktu \u2014 cloudov\u00e9 platformy OpenStack. Jak to bude ve skute\u010dnosti, uk\u00e1\u017ee budoucnost.<\/p>\n

\u010cemu se v\u011bnuje Linux Foundation<\/h2>\n

\nFond se zab\u00fdv\u00e1<\/a><\/noindex> se v\u011bnuje propagaci a standardizaci Linuxu, stejn\u011b jako rozvoji ekosyst\u00e9mu open-source softwaru jako celku. Portfolio fondu se pravideln\u011b dopl\u0148uje o nov\u00e9 projekty \u2014 n\u011bkter\u00e9 z nich se objevily doslova tento t\u00fdden.<\/p>\n

Jak\u00e9 jsou to projekty.<\/b> 25. \u010dervna se st\u00e1la sou\u010d\u00e1st\u00ed Linux Foundation se stal<\/a><\/noindex> framework FATE. It was transferred to open source by the Chinese bank WeBank and the company Tencent. The goal of the new solution is to help<\/a><\/noindex> companies develop secure artificial intelligence systems that meet GDPR requirements. It includes tools for implementing deep learning methods, logistic regression<\/a><\/noindex> and \u201ctransfer learning<\/a><\/noindex>\u201d (in this case, a pre-trained model is adapted for solving other tasks). The source code of the project can be found on GitHub<\/a><\/noindex>.<\/p>\n

Also, at the beginning of the year, the Linux Foundation ozn\u00e1mili<\/a><\/noindex> launched the CommunityBridge platform. It serves as a bridge between developers and investors willing to sponsor open projects. The platform aims to help attract new developers to the open source field.<\/p>\n

Despite this, it has already faced criticism. Industry experts uv\u00e1d\u011bj\u00ed<\/a><\/noindex>, that the Linux Foundation will provide only minimal financial services, while issues like contract conclusion and licensing remain \u201coff the table.\u201d Perhaps in the future, the functionality of CommunityBridge will be expanded.<\/p>\n

Perspektivy fondu.<\/b> At the end of last year, the Linux Foundation established two new funds for GraphQL<\/noindex> a Ceph<\/a><\/noindex>. The organization plans to continue developing the open source software ecosystem.<\/p>\n

For example, the Linux Foundation and Facebook pl\u00e1nuj\u00ed<\/a><\/noindex> are opening a new fund dedicated to the osquery project. Osquery is a framework for operating system monitoring, used by developers of the social network, as well as by companies like Airbnb, Netflix, and Uber. The tool optimizes the process of obtaining data on running processes, loaded kernel modules, and network connections.<\/p>\n

It is expected that in the near future, the Linux Foundation will again expand its portfolio. They may find themselves on the path of the successful Cloud Native Computing Foundation, from which Kubernetes and CoreDNS emerged. Or they may follow the footsteps of the Tizen fund, whose prospects remain uncertain due to unpopularity<\/a><\/noindex> of the operating system of the same name.<\/p>\n

Both funds \u2014 the OpenStack Foundation and the Linux Foundation \u2014 are actively developing their own projects. We will continue to monitor the most interesting of their \u201cacquisitions.\u201d We will tell you about some of them in future materials.<\/i><\/p>\n
