IWD m\u016f\u017ee b\u00fdt pou\u017eit jak samostatn\u011b, tak jako backend pro s\u00ed\u0165ov\u00e9 konfigur\u00e1tory jako Network Manager a ConnMan. Projekt je vhodn\u00fd pro pou\u017eit\u00ed na vestav\u011bn\u00fdch za\u0159\u00edzen\u00edch a je optimalizov\u00e1n pro minim\u00e1ln\u00ed spot\u0159ebu pam\u011bti a diskov\u00e9ho prostoru. IWD nepou\u017e\u00edv\u00e1 extern\u00ed knihovny a spol\u00e9h\u00e1 se pouze na mo\u017enosti poskytovan\u00e9 standardn\u00edm j\u00e1drem Linuxu (pro funkci sta\u010d\u00ed Linuxov\u00e9 j\u00e1dro a Glibc). Obsahuje vlastn\u00ed implementaci DHCP klienta a sadu <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/git.kernel.org\/pub\/scm\/network\/wireless\/iwd.git\/tree\/src\/crypto.h\">kryptografick\u00fdch funkc\u00ed<\/a><\/noindex>.
