Release of the lightweight http server lighttpd 1.4.60 has taken place. The new version features 437 changes, primarily related to bug fixes and optimizations.

- Support for the Range header (RFC-7233) has been added for all non-streaming responses (previously, Range was supported only for serving static files).
- Optimization of the HTTP/2 protocol implementation has been carried out, reducing memory usage and speeding up the processing of frequently sent initial requests.

- The performance of lua in the mod_magnet module has been improved.
- The performance of the mod_dirlisting module has been enhanced, and an option for caching configuration has been added.
- In mod_dirlisting, mod_ssi, and mod_webdav, limits have been added to prevent excessive memory consumption under extreme loads.
- On the backend side, separate limits on the execution time of connect(), write(), and read() calls have been introduced.
- Restart has been ensured if a significant offset in system clock time is detected (which caused issues with TLS 1.3 on embedded systems).
- The default timeout for connecting to the backend is set to 8 seconds (it can be changed in the settings).
Additionally, a warning has been published regarding changes in behavior and some default settings. The changes are planned to be applied at the beginning of 2022.
- The default timeout for graceful restart/shutdown operations is planned to be reduced from infinity to 5 seconds. The timeout can be set using the "server.graceful-shutdown-timeout" option.
- The build with libev and FAM will be deprecated, with the native operating system interfaces for event loop processing and file system change tracking (epoll() and inotify() in Linux, kqueue() in *BSD) being used instead.
- The following modules will be deprecated and removed in future releases: mod_compress (use mod_deflate), mod_geoip (use mod_maxminddb), mod_authn_mysql (use mod_authn_dbi), mod_mysql_vhost (use mod_vhostdb_dbi), mod_cml (use mod_magnet), and mod_flv_streaming.
