In two weeks, intensive courses on Kubernetes will start: Slurm-4 for those getting acquainted with k8s and MegaSlurm for engineers and architects of k8s.
There are only 10 spots left in the hall for Slurm-4. Many want to master k8s at a basic level.
For Ops, who are getting acquainted with Kubernetes, launching a cluster and deploying an application is already a good result. Developers have even fewer requests: understanding how to optimize an application for working in a cluster.
Engineers and architects have tasks of a different level:
- whether it is possible to run a database in k8s, whether it is necessary to do it, what we gain and lose from such architecture;
- which deployment approaches are clearly unsuitable for k8s;
- what security threats k8s poses (for example, a developer can easily gain admin access) and how to prevent them;
- what infrastructure automation schemes k8s allows and how to learn to find and use them.

Slurm-4 er et ægte intensivt forløb: omkring 150 deltagere, de fleste ser Kubernetes for første gang, tæt program, masser af fejl i praksis. Generelt er det en hektisk hverdag for administratorer.
MegaSlurm adskiller sig på alle punkter.
I øjeblikket er 47 personer tilmeldt Mega. Det er et stille, næsten intimt arrangement. Lidt hastværk, meget koncentreret tankearbejde.
Det overvældende flertal af deltagerne arbejder med k8s. Det betyder, at der bruges minimal tid på grundlæggende koncepter, og maksimum på interessante, komplekse spørgsmål.
33 ud af 47 deltagere har været på en af de tidligere Slurms, det vil sige, at de er vores gamle bekendte. Blandt andet kommer to medarbejdere , som var på den første Slurm (august ’18) og har arbejdet kontinuerligt med k8s siden da.
Traditionel tak for skyen til praksis: hvis det ikke var for Selectel, ville deltagelse i Slurm koste mindst 5000 kr. mere.
