Release manager for the lightweight desktop environment XFCE, Simon Steinbeiss, has published the planned schedule for the release of alpha and final versions of XFCE version 4.14 in the project's mailing list. The development team will adhere to the traditional version release model: initially, three pre-releases will be published, followed by the final stable build. The schedule is as follows:
May 19: 4.14-pre1
June 30: 4.14-pre2
July 28: 4.14-pre3 (if not needed, the 4.14-final will be presented on this day)
August 11: 4.14-final
If we believe the brief task plan for the release 4.14, everything is ready: the environment has been completely rewritten in GTK3 with compatibility with old xfwm4 themes preserved, rendering through GdkGC has been replaced with cairo, and XInput2 support has been added.
Those wishing to test the current builds can run xfce 4.14 from the docker container.Feedback is welcome!
