Tidligere blev der truffet en lignende beslutning om forl\u00e6ngelse af supporttiden for Ubuntu 18.04 og 20.04. Opdateringer vil derfor blive udgivet for Ubuntu 14.04 indtil april 2024, for Ubuntu 16.04 indtil april 2026, for Ubuntu 18.04 indtil april 2028, og for Ubuntu 20.04 indtil april 2030.    <\/p>\n<p>Halvdelen af den 10-\u00e5rige supportperiode vil blive leveret under ESM-programmet (Extended Security Maintenance), som d\u00e6kker opdateringer, der retter s\u00e5rbarheder for kernen og de vigtigste systempakker. Adgang til ESM-opdateringer er kun tilg\u00e6ngelig for brugere med betalt supportabonnement. Almindelige brugere har adgang til opdateringer i kun fem \u00e5r efter udgivelsen.    <\/p>\n<p>N\u00e5r det g\u00e6lder andre distributioner, gives der 10 \u00e5rs support i SUSE Linux og Red Hat Enterprise Linux (eksklusive den udvidede tre\u00e5rige ekstra service til RHEL). Supportperioden for Debian GNU\/Linux, med henblik p\u00e5 programmet for udvidet LTS-support, er 5 \u00e5r (plus eventuelt endnu to \u00e5r under initiativet 'Extended LTS').
