Distributionen har strengere sikkerhedskrav og er bygget med SSP (Stack Smashing Protection). OpenRC bruges som init-system, og den egenpakkeh\u00e5ndtering apk bruges til pakkeh\u00e5ndtering. Alpine anvendes til at skabe officielle Docker-containerbilleder.
