Studiet Speakeasy Productions har lavet og offentliggjort en dokumentarfilm «eBPF: Unlocking the Kernel», som fort\u00e6ller historien om udviklingen af eBPF-subsystemet i Linux-kernen. eBPF leverer en indbygget bytecode-tolk med JIT, hvilket g\u00f8r det muligt at \u00e6ndre systemets adf\u00e6rd on-the-fly gennem brugerpladsindl\u00e6ste h\u00e5ndteringsmetoder uden at \u00e6ndre koden i kernen. Dette tillader tilf\u00f8jelse af effektive h\u00e5ndteringsmetoder uden at komplicere selve systemet. Blandt andet kan der baseres p\u00e5 eBPF oprettes h\u00e5ndteringsmetoder til netv\u00e6rksoperationer, styres b\u00e5ndbredde, kontrolleres adgang, overv\u00e5ges systemarbejde og udf\u00f8res tracing.
