Douglas DeMaio, marketing manager at SUSE responsible for community engagement with openSUSE, announced the decision to hold an additional vote for the logo, made in response to criticism from project participants regarding the voting process and the lack of an option to keep the current logo. The logo competition considered votes from all interested parties, regardless of their involvement in the development, including people not associated with openSUSE, which did not fully account for the collective identity of the developers.

During the discussion, it was suggested to give openSUSE project participants the opportunity to influence the choice of a new logo. It was also mentioned that SUSE, which owns the rights to the current logo, should be involved in the decision-making process regarding rebranding and addressing the trademark situation. Ultimately, it was decided to allow project participants to express their opinions, for which a separate vote will be held among openSUSE project members to choose between the existing logo and the proposed new design.
Kilde: opennet.ru
