GitHub har annonceret, at der som standard for alle offentlige repositories er implementeret et system til at beskytte mod, at fortrolige data utilsigtet bliver inkluderet i repositories af udviklerne. For eksempel kan konfigurationsfiler med adgangskoder til databaser, tokens eller adgangsn\u00f8gler til API'er utilsigtet ende i et repository. Tidligere blev scanning udf\u00f8rt i passiv tilstand og kunne identificere tidligere l\u00e6kager, der allerede var sket.
