Distributionen adskiller sig ved at have h\u00f8jere sikkerhedskrav og er samlet med beskyttelse SSP (Stack Smashing Protection). OpenRC bruges som init-system, og en egen pakkeh\u00e5ndtering kaldet apk anvendes til pakkeh\u00e5ndtering. Alpine bruges til at skabe officielle Docker-containerbilleder og anvendes i projektet PostmarketOS.
