V\u00e6rkt\u00f8jet g\u00f8r det muligt at anvende patches til filer, der indeholder \u00e6ndringslister oprettet af programmet diff. Koden er skrevet i C og distribueres under GPLv3+ licensen.      <\/p>\n<p>I den nye version:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Problemet fra 2038 er l\u00f8st \u2014 v\u00e6rkt\u00f8jet h\u00e5ndterer nu korrekt tidsdata for filer oprettet efter 2038, selv p\u00e5 platforme med 32-bit time_t.\n<li class=\"l\"> Muligheden \u00ab\u2014follow-symlinks\u00bb g\u00e6lder nu ikke kun for indg\u00e5ende filer, men ogs\u00e5 for de filer, der oprettes.\n<li class=\"l\"> I overensstemmelse med kravene i standarden POSIX.1-2024 er brugen af linjeskiftesymboler i filnavne forbudt.\n<li class=\"l\"> Brug af nul-byte (\u2018\\0\u2019) i strenge med diff-direktiver er forbudt.\n<li class=\"l\"> Det er nu tilladt at specificere mellemrum og tabulatorer f\u00f8r og efter v\u00e6rdier med linjenumre.\n<li class=\"l\"> Der er blevet arbejdet p\u00e5 at eliminere usikkert eller forkert adf\u00e6rd i us\u00e6dvanlige situationer, f.eks. ved behandling af meget store feltst\u00f8rrelser, input\/output-fejl, hukommelsesmangel, race conditions og sending af signaler p\u00e5 uhensigtsm\u00e6ssige tidspunkter.\n<li class=\"l\"> Den gamle kode \u00abPlan B\u00bb er fjernet, som blev oprettet til systemer med 16-bit pointers.\n<li class=\"l\"> Kravene til compileren er h\u00e6vet; den skal nu underst\u00f8tte C99 standarden (tidligere kr\u00e6vedes C89).\n<li class=\"l\"> Support
