Distributionen skiller sig ud med h\u00f8jere sikkerhedskrav og er bygget med SSP (Stack Smashing Protection). OpenRC bruges som initialiseringssystem, og den bruger en egen pakkeh\u00e5ndtering kaldet apk. Alpine anvendes til at skabe officielle Docker-containerbilleder og bruges i projektet PostmarketOS. Bootable iso-billeder (x86_64, x86, armhf, aarch64, armv7, ppc64le, s390x, riscv64 og loongarch64) er tilg\u00e6ngelige i seks versioner: standard (344 MB), netboot (361 MB), udvidet (1 GB), til <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/da\/vps\/\"   title=\"virtual machines\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"2243\">virtual machines<\/a> (67 MB), minirootfs (4 MB) og til hypervisor Xen (1 GB).     <\/p>\n<p>I den nye version:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Efter fem \u00e5rs udvikling er pakkeh\u00e5ndteringssystemet apk 3.0 blevet offentliggjort. I Alpine Linux 3.23 er der introduceret nye apk v\u00e6rkt\u00f8jer, men der anvendes stadig den anden version af pakkeformatet og indekset (overgangen til den tredje version er planlagt til en af de kommende udgaver).\n<p>Blandt \u00e6ndringerne i apk 3.0:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Et nyt pakkeformat, der underst\u00f8tter zstd kompressionsalgoritmen og digitale signaturer baseret p\u00e5 den nye algoritme, samt muligheden for at verificere data i pakkeh\u00e5ndteringsdatabasen ved hj\u00e6lp af de originale pakkesignaturer.\n<li class=\"l\"> Underst\u00f8ttelse af brugen af nye hash-algoritmer i indekset (SHA-256, SHA-512).\n<li class=\"l\"> FTP-st\u00f8tte, den f\u00f8rste version af pakkeformatet og md5-hashes er blevet fjernet.\n<li class=\"l\"> Tilf\u00f8jet kontrol af, at arkitekturen af den installerede pakke svarer til systemarkitekturen.\n<li class=\"l\"> For separating the output of scripts and the apk utility, a prefix '*' is now added to the script output.\n<li class=\"l\"> Formatet for konfigurationsfiler til repository har f\u00e5et tilf\u00f8jet underst\u00f8ttelse til at definere og anvende variabler.\n<li class=\"l\"> Der er tilf\u00f8jet st\u00f8tte til at flytte standardindstillinger til en separat konfigurationsfil.\n<li class=\"l\"> Nye kommandoer er blevet tilf\u00f8jet: apk mkpkg til at oprette pakker, apk mkndx til at oprette indekser, apk adbsign til at h\u00e5ndtere digitale signaturer og apk adbdump til at dumpe strukturer.\n<li class=\"l\"> The command 'apk query' has been added to retrieve information about packages from installed databases and indexes, combining the features of the info, list, and search commands.   <\/ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> En valgfri funktion til at flytte alle eksekverbare filer og biblioteker fra rodkatalogerne til mappen \/usr ( \/bin, \/sbin og \/lib* er blevet forenet med de tilsvarende mapper inden for \/usr og er organiseret gennem symboliske links til dem). For at aktivere denne sammenl\u00e6gning under installationen skal milj\u00f8variablen BOOTSTRAP_USR_MERGED angives f\u00f8r k\u00f8rsel af setup-disk v\u00e6rkt\u00f8jet. P\u00e5 eksisterende systemer kan pakken merge-usr anvendes til at sammenl\u00e6gge.\n<li class=\"l\"> The Linux kernel package 'linux-edge' has been replaced with 'linux-stable', which uses identical settings to the 'linux-lts' package. The linux-stable package includes all stable kernel branches, while linux-lts only includes those marked as LTS.\n<li class=\"l\"> Firmwares til Intel tr\u00e5dl\u00f8se adaptere, som underst\u00f8ttes af iwlwifi-driveren, er blevet flyttet fra pakken linux-firmware-other til linux-firmware-intel.\n<li class=\"l\"> En metapakke til LLVM er blevet tilf\u00f8jet, der henviser til den nyeste udgivelse af LLVM.\n<li class=\"l\"> Regels\u00e6ttene nftrules og udev er blevet opdelt i underpakker ($pkgname-nftrules og $pkgname-udev), der tilbyder firewall-regler og udev relateret til pakkerne.
