I Linux From Scratch findes der instruktioner til at bygge et grundl\u00e6ggende Linux-system fra bunden ved kun at bruge kildekoden til det n\u00f8dvendige software. Beyond Linux From Scratch supplerer LFS-instruktionerne med oplysninger om ops\u00e6tning af cirka 1000 softwarepakker, der d\u00e6kker forskellige anvendelsesomr\u00e5der, fra databaser og serversystemer til grafiske milj\u00f8er og medieafspillere.      <\/p>\n<p>Den nye version er bem\u00e6rkelsesv\u00e6rdig ved at opdatere versionerne af guiderne Linux From Scratch (LFS) og Beyond Linux From Scratch (BLFS) i konfigurationen med init-systemet SysVinit. Adgangen til guiden LFS\/BLFS 12.4 med SysVinit vil blive bevaret, mens udgivelsen af LFS\/BLFS 13.0 kun er formet i versionen med system manageren systemd.     <\/p>\n<p>I Linux From Scratch 13.0 er 36 pakker opdateret, herunder Linux-kernen 6.18.10, systemd 259.1, binutils-2.46, glibc-2.42, vim 9.2.0078, zlib 1.3.2, Python 3.14.3, coreutils 9.10, openssl 3.6.1, sqlite 3.50.4. Der er rettet fejl i opstarts-scripts, og der er udf\u00f8rt redaktionelt arbejde i de forklarende materialer i hele bogen.         <\/p>\n<p>I Beyond Linux From Scratch 13.0 er der registreret mere end 1500 opdateringer. Blandt andet er versionerne af GNOME, KDE Plasma, Xfce og LXQt blevet opdateret. LXQt har f\u00e5et tilf\u00f8jet st\u00f8tte til Wayland. Nye pakker er tilf\u00f8jet: Glycin, Showtime, Loupe, simdutf, kquickimageeditor, qtkeychain, kddockwidgets, lxqt-wayland-session, libheif, libde265, libfyaml, SVT-AV1, dav1d, SDL3, sdl2-compat, Maturin, setuptools_rust, semantic_version, uv_build, blueprint-compiler. Pakker, der er fjernet: sqlite (flyttet til LFS), Sendmail, atkmm-2.28.x, dhcpcd, bridge-utils, pcre2, webp-pixbuf-loader.         <\/p>\n<p>Der vejledning \"Gaming Linux From Scratch 13.0\" er ogs\u00e5 blevet opdateret med instruktioner til installation af computerspil og relaterede programmer som Steam og Wine i LFS 13.0.
