Under NGINX Unit kan flere applikationer p\u00e5 forskellige programmeringssprog k\u00f8re samtidig, og opstartparametre kan \u00e6ndres dynamisk uden behov for at redigere konfigurationsfiler og genstarte. For at \u00e6ndre det synlige rod i FS for applikationen anvendes opkaldet pivot_root(), som i mods\u00e6tning til den usikre systemfunktion chroot() ikke blot flytter rod i FS, men anvender isolation p\u00e5 navnerumsniveau, som den der bruges i containere.
