I den nye udgave er koden blevet renset betydeligt - al C-kode er skrevet om, og projektet inkluderer nu kun kildekoder skrevet i Guile.<\/p>\n<p>Mcron er 100% kompatibel med Vixie cron og kan fungere som en transparent erstatning for den. Udover konfigurationsformatet for Vixie cron giver Mcron mulighed for at definere scripts til periodisk k\u00f8rsel af opgaver, skrevet i Scheme. Implementeringen af Mcron inkluderer tre gange f\u00e6rre linjer kode end Vixie cron. Mcron kan k\u00f8re uden root-rettigheder for at h\u00e5ndtere opgaver for den nuv\u00e6rende bruger (brugeren kan starte sin egen mcron-daemon).<\/p>\n<p>Et centralt kendetegn ved projektet er en anderledes tilgang til planl\u00e6gning af udf\u00f8relsen af opgaver - i stedet for konstant overv\u00e5gning af tiden bruger Mcron en line\u00e6r k\u00f8 til at arrangere opgaver med angivelse af forsinkelser mellem opkald af hvert element i k\u00f8en. I perioderne mellem aktiveringen af opgaver er Mcron helt inaktiv.
