Das Projekt wird von einer eigenen gemeinn\u00fctzigen Organisation, der AlmaLinux OS Foundation, betreut, die f\u00fcr die Entwicklung auf einer neutralen Plattform unter Einbeziehung der Community und mit einem Managementmodell, das dem der Fedora-Projektorganisation \u00e4hnelt, gegr\u00fcndet wurde. Die Distribution ist f\u00fcr alle Nutzerkategorien kostenlos. Alle Entwicklungen von AlmaLinux werden unter freien Lizenzen ver\u00f6ffentlicht. <\/p>\n

Neben AlmaLinux werden als Alternativen zum klassischen CentOS 8 auch VzLinux (vorbereitet von Virtuozzo), Rocky Linux (entwickelt von der Community unter der Leitung des Gr\u00fcnders von CentOS mit Unterst\u00fctzung der eigens gegr\u00fcndeten Firma Ctrl IQ) und Oracle Linux positioniert. Dar\u00fcber hinaus hat Red Hat die M\u00f6glichkeit eines kostenlosen Gebrauchs von RHEL in Organisationen, die Open Source-Software entwickeln, und in Umgebungen individueller Entwickler, die bis zu 16 virtuelle oder physische Systeme umfassen, bereitgestellt.
