Mit Unterst\u00fctzung der FreeBSD Foundation wird ein neuer Installer f\u00fcr FreeBSD entwickelt. Im Gegensatz zum derzeit verwendeten bsdinstall wird dieser im grafischen Modus betrieben und soll f\u00fcr gew\u00f6hnliche Nutzer verst\u00e4ndlicher sein. Der neue Installer befindet sich derzeit in der experimentellen Prototyp-Phase, kann aber bereits grundlegende Installationsoperationen durchf\u00fchren. F\u00fcr diejenigen, die am Testen teilnehmen m\u00f6chten, steht ein Installations-ISO-Image zur Verf\u00fcgung, das im Live-Modus funktioniert. <\/p>\n

Der Installer ist in Lua geschrieben und implementiert als HTTP-Server, der eine Web-Oberfl\u00e4che bereitstellt. Das Installations-Image stellt ein Live-System dar, in dem eine Arbeitsumgebung mit einem Webbrowser ausgef\u00fchrt wird, der die Web-Oberfl\u00e4che des Installers im Einzelfenster-Modus anzeigt. Der Serverprozess des Installers und der Browser werden auf dem Installationsmedium ausgef\u00fchrt und fungieren als Backend und Frontend. Zus\u00e4tzlich wird die M\u00f6glichkeit geboten, die Installation von einem externen Host aus zu steuern. <\/p>\n

Das Projekt entwickelt sich mit einer modularen Architektur. Basierend auf den vom Benutzer gew\u00e4hlten Parametern wird eine Konfigurationsdatei erstellt, die als Skript f\u00fcr die tats\u00e4chliche Installation dient. Im Gegensatz zu den in bsdinstall unterst\u00fctzten Installationsskripten haben die Konfigurationsdateien des neuen Installationsprogramms eine strenger definierte Struktur und k\u00f6nnen verwendet werden, um alternative Installationsschnittstellen zu erstellen.
