Urspr\u00fcnglich wird das Projekt mit einem Verilog-Simulator entwickelt, kann aber nach Abschluss f\u00fcr die Herstellung von echten Chips verwendet werden. Die Projektentwicklungen werden unter der MIT-Lizenz ver\u00f6ffentlicht.    <\/p>\n<p>VeriGPU positioniert sich als spezialisierter Prozessor (ASIC), der optimiert ist, um Berechnungen im Zusammenhang mit maschinellem Lernen zu beschleunigen. In den Pl\u00e4nen wird die Sicherstellung der Kompatibilit\u00e4t mit dem Framework f\u00fcr tiefes maschinelles Lernen PyTorch erw\u00e4hnt und die M\u00f6glichkeit der Entwicklung von Anwendungen f\u00fcr VeriGPU unter Verwendung der API HIP (Heterogeneous-Compute Interface) implementiert. Zuk\u00fcnftig wird auch die Unterst\u00fctzung anderer APIs wie SYCL und NVIDIA CUDA nicht ausgeschlossen.    <\/p>\n<p>Die GPU wird auf der Grundlage des RISC-V-Befehlssatzes entwickelt, jedoch ist die endg\u00fcltige interne Architektur des GPU-Befehlssatzes nur geringf\u00fcgig mit RISC-V ISA kompatibel, da in Situationen, in denen das Design der GPU nicht in das Konzept von RISC-V passt, nicht angestrebt wird, die Kompatibilit\u00e4t mit RISC-V zu wahren. Die Entwicklung konzentriert sich auf die f\u00fcr Systeme des maschinellen Lernens erforderlichen Funktionen, weshalb nur das Format f\u00fcr Flie\u00dfkomma-Berechnungen BF16 verwendet wird, und nur die f\u00fcr das maschinelle Lernen erforderlichen Flie\u00dfkomma-Operationen wie exp, log, tanh und sqrt verf\u00fcgbar sind.    <\/p>\n<p>Die bereits verf\u00fcgbaren Komponenten umfassen den GPU-Controller, APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) f\u00fcr Ganzzahloperationen (+, -, \/, *), einen Block f\u00fcr Gleitkommaoperationen (+, *) und einen Block f\u00fcr die Verzweigungssteuerung. F\u00fcr die Anwendungsentwicklung werden Assembler und die Unterst\u00fctzung der Codekompilierung in C++ auf Basis von LLVM angeboten.
