Der Quellcode ist in C++ geschrieben und wird unter der GPLv3-Lizenz (GitHub, GitFlic) verteilt. Die grafische Benutzeroberfl\u00e4che basiert auf der GTK 4-Bibliothek. Unterst\u00fctzung f\u00fcr die Betriebssysteme Linux und Windows ist vorhanden. Bereits fertige Pakete sind f\u00fcr Arch Linux (AUR) und Distributionen auf Basis der Alt Linux Plattform 10 vorbereitet.    <\/p>\n<p>Communist \u2014 ein einfacher P2P-Messenger, der sowohl im Internet als auch in lokalen Netzwerken verschiedener Konfigurationen funktioniert. F\u00fcr die Verbindung zwischen Nutzern wird eine Kombination aus einer verteilten Hash-Tabelle (es wird eine DHT-Variante verwendet, die f\u00fcr Torrent-Clients vorgesehen ist) und der Technik des UDP-Hole-Punching (zur Interaktion mit Hosts hinter Adress-Translatoren) eingesetzt. Die Protokolle IPv4 und IPv6 werden unterst\u00fctzt. Alle Daten werden auf dem Ger\u00e4t des Nutzers in verschl\u00fcsselter Form gespeichert und ebenfalls verschl\u00fcsselt \u00fcbertragen.
