Zur Extraktion des verschl\u00fcsselten Mikrocode kann die 2020 von denselben Forschern entwickelte Methode 'Red Unlock' verwendet werden. Die vorgeschlagene M\u00f6glichkeit zur Entschl\u00fcsselung des Mikrocode erm\u00f6glicht es, die interne Struktur des Mikrocode und die Methoden der Implementierung von Maschinenbefehlen x86 zu untersuchen. Dar\u00fcber hinaus haben die Forscher das Format der Mikrocode-Updates, den Verschl\u00fcsselungsalgorithmus und den Schl\u00fcssel, der zum Schutz des Mikrocode verwendet wurde (RC4), wiederhergestellt.     <\/p>\n<p>Um den verwendeten Verschl\u00fcsselungsschl\u00fcssel zu bestimmen, wurde eine Schwachstelle in Intel TXE genutzt, mit der ein undocumented Debug-Modus aktiviert wurde, den die Forscher mit dem Codenamen \u201eRed Unlock\u201c versehen haben. Im Debug-Modus konnte direkt aus der CPU ein Dump mit dem laufenden Mikrokode geladen und daraus der Algorithmus und die Schl\u00fcssel extrahiert werden.    <\/p>\n<p>Das Werkzeug erm\u00f6glicht nur die Dekodierung des Mikrocode, bietet jedoch keine M\u00f6glichkeit zur Modifikation, da die Integrit\u00e4t des Mikrocode zus\u00e4tzlich durch eine digitale Signatur auf Basis des RSA-Algorithmus \u00fcberpr\u00fcft wird. Diese Methode ist anwendbar auf Intel-Prozessoren der Familie Gemini Lake, die auf der Mikroarchitektur Goldmont Plus basieren, sowie auf Intel Apolo Lake, die auf der Mikroarchitektur Goldmont
