Die Live-Edition der Salix 15.0-Distribution wurde vorgestellt und bietet eine bootf\u00e4hige Arbeitsumgebung, die keine Installation auf einer Festplatte erfordert. Die im aktuellen Sitzung angesammelten \u00c4nderungen k\u00f6nnen in einem separaten Bereich eines USB-Laufwerks gespeichert werden, um die Arbeit nach einem Neustart fortzusetzen. Die Distribution wird vom Entwickler von Zenwalk Linux weiterentwickelt, der das Projekt aufgrund von Konflikten mit anderen Entwicklern verlassen hat, die eine maximale \u00c4hnlichkeit mit Slackware vertreten haben. Salix 15 ist vollst\u00e4ndig kompatibel mit Slackware Linux 15 und verfolgt den Ansatz \u201eeine Anwendung f\u00fcr eine Aufgabe\u201c. F\u00fcr das Paketmanagement wird der Paketmanager gslapt verwendet, der das \u00c4quivalent zu slapt-get ist. Als grafische Benutzeroberfl\u00e4che f\u00fcr die Installation von Programmen aus SlackBuilds wird zus\u00e4tzlich zu gslapt das Programm Sourcery mitgeliefert, das speziell als Frontend zu slapt-src im Rahmen des Salix-Projekts entwickelt wurde. Die Standardwerkzeuge zur Verwaltung von Slackware-Paketen wurden modifiziert, um die Unterst\u00fctzung von Spkg zu gew\u00e4hrleisten, was den Einsatz externer Anwendungen wie sbopkg erm\u00f6glicht, ohne die Kompatibilit\u00e4t mit Slackware zu beeintr\u00e4chtigen.
