Nach der Einstellung der Produktion der 8-Bit-Z80-Prozessoren durch Zilog am 15. April haben Enthusiasten die Initiative ergriffen, einen offenen Klon dieses Prozessors zu entwickeln. Ziel des Projekts ist es, einen Ersatz f\u00fcr die Z80-Prozessoren zu erstellen, der mit dem originalen CPU Zilog Z80 kompatibel ist, sowohl in der Pinbelegung als auch in der Verwendung im ZX Spectrum Computer. Die Schaltpl\u00e4ne, Beschreibungen der Hardwareeinheiten in Verilog und die erforderliche Produktionsdokumentation werden unter der Apache 2.0 Lizenz verbreitet. Die Produktion der ersten Testcharge der FOSS Z80-Prozessoren ist f\u00fcr Juni 2024 geplant. <\/p>\n

Bei der Entwicklung des FOSS Z80-Chips wird das OpenROAD-Framework eingesetzt, das zur Automatisierung des Entwicklungsprozesses offener Mikroschaltungen entwickelt wurde, sowie das Skywater PDK (Process Design Kit), welches den in der SkyWater-Fabrik verwendeten 130nm-Fertigungsprozess beschreibt und die notwendigen Entwurfsdateien f\u00fcr die Chipproduktion bereitstellt. Zur Senkung der Produktionskosten f\u00fcr den Test- und Entwurfs-Chip wird die Infrastruktur des Projekts Tiny Tapeout genutzt. <\/p>\n

Der Prozessor Z80 wurde 1976 vorgestellt und 48 Jahre lang produziert.
