Theoretisch kann PortableGL in allen Anwendungen verwendet werden, die Texturen oder Framebuffer als Eingabedaten akzeptieren. Der Code ist in Form einer einzigen Header-Datei angelegt und wird unter der MIT-Lizenz verbreitet.      <\/p>\n<p>Das Projekt verfolgt Ziele wie Portabilit\u00e4t, Konformit\u00e4t mit der OpenGL-API, Benutzerfreundlichkeit, einfachen Code und hohe Leistung. Als Anwendungsgebiete werden die Vermittlung von Konzepten zur Erstellung von Grafik-APIs, die Nutzung zur Arbeit mit 3D-Grafik auf Systemen ohne GPU und die Integration von OpenGL-Unterst\u00fctzung in spezifische Betriebssysteme erw\u00e4hnt, f\u00fcr die das Mesa3D-Paket nicht portiert wurde.
