Um ein TLS-Zertifikat zu erhalten, war lediglich der Zugang zu einer E-Mail mit der Ziel-Domain erforderlich. Beispielsweise erlaubte die Schwachstelle, ein TLS-Zertifikat f\u00fcr Domains zu erhalten, die in \u00f6ffentlichen E-Mail-Diensten wie gmail.com, yandex.ru, yahoo.com, outlook.com und icloud.com verwendet werden.     <\/p>\n<p>Die Schwachstelle gab Angreifern au\u00dferdem die M\u00f6glichkeit, gezielte Angriffe auf Mitarbeiter bekannter Unternehmen und Teilnehmer gro\u00dfer Projekte durchzuf\u00fchren, um Zugriff auf deren E-Mail zu erlangen und TLS-Zertifikate f\u00fcr bekannte <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/de\/domain\/\"   title=\"Domains\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"3188\">Domains<\/a>. Beispielsweise erm\u00f6glichte der Hack eines Google-Mitarbeiters mit der E-Mail name@google.com den Erhalt von <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/de\/ssl-sertifikat\/\"   title=\"ein Zertifikat f\u00fcr eine Domain\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"939\">ein Zertifikat f\u00fcr eine Domain<\/a> google.com.      <\/p>\n<p>Die Schwachstelle wurde durch einen Fehler bei der Implementierung des Domainbesitzvalidierungssystems durch E-Mail-Best\u00e4tigung verursacht. Um die Best\u00e4tigung per E-Mail zu erhalten, muss in die DNS-Zone der Domain, f\u00fcr die das Zertifikat angefordert wird, ein DNS TXT-Eintrag \u201e_validation-contactemail\u201c hinzugef\u00fcgt werden. Zum Beispiel \u201e_validation-contactemail.test.com DNS TXT name@example.com\u201c. Nach der Initiierung der Domainvalidierung wird ein Best\u00e4tigungscode an die E-Mail name@example.com gesendet, dessen Eingabe den Besitz der Domain \u201etest.com\u201c best\u00e4tigt und die Ausstellung eines TLS-Zertifikats f\u00fcr \u201etest.com\u201c erm\u00f6glicht.    <\/p>\n<p>Die Essenz der Schwachstelle besteht darin, dass neben der Domain \u201etest.com\u201c, f\u00fcr die das Zertifikat angefordert wurde, auch der Besitznachweis f\u00fcr die Domain \u201eexample.com\u201c erbracht wurde, die in der E-Mail verwendet wurde. Der Forscher, der das Problem entdeckt hat, demonstrierte den Erhalt eines funktionierenden TLS-Zertifikats f\u00fcr die Domain aliyun.com, die im Webmail-Service des chinesischen Unternehmens Alibaba verwendet wird. Im Rahmen eines Testangriffs registrierte der Forscher die Validierungsdomain \u201ed2b4eee07de5efcb8598f0586cbf2690.test.dcv-inspector.com\u201c im Service \u201edcv-inspector.com\u201c und beantragte f\u00fcr diese Domain ein TLS-Zertifikat, indem er den DNS-Eintrag hinzuf\u00fcgte: _validation-contactemail.d2b4eee07de5efcb8598f0586cbf2690.test.dcv-inspector.com DNS TXT myusername@aliyun.com    <\/p>\n<p>Anschlie\u00dfend beantragte er auf der Website SSL.com ein TLS-Zertifikat f\u00fcr die Domain d2b4eee07de5efcb8598f0586cbf2690.test.dcv-inspector.com und w\u00e4hlte die Best\u00e4tigung per E-Mail. Die Zertifizierungsstelle SSL.com sendete einen Best\u00e4tigungscode an myusername@aliyun.com und nach Eingabe dieses Codes f\u00fcgte sie nicht nur \u201ed2b4eee07de5efcb8598f0586cbf2690.test.dcv-inspector.com\u201c zur Liste der verifizierten Domains hinzu, sondern auch \u201ealiyun.com\u201c. Danach erhielt der Forscher erfolgreich ein TLS-Zertifikat f\u00fcr die Domain \u201ealiyun.com\u201c, dessen Besitz best\u00e4tigt wurde.    <\/p>\n<p>Die Zertifizierungsstelle SSL.com hat das Problem behoben und 11 Zertifikate identifiziert, bei deren Ausstellung ein verwundbares \u00dcberpr\u00fcfungsverfahren mit einer fremden Domain in der E-Mail verwendet wurde. Anscheinend zeigen die identifizierten F\u00e4lle keine Anzeichen von b\u00f6sartiger Aktivit\u00e4t, und von den 11 wurde bisher nur ein Zertifikat widerrufen, das der Forscher f\u00fcr die Website aliyun.com erhalten hat. Bei den anderen Zertifikaten waren die Domains medinet.ca, help.gurusoft.com.sg, banners.betvictor.com, production-boomi.3day.com, kisales.com und medc.kisales.com betroffen.
