In Fedora Linux 43 wird auf x86-Systemen nur die M\u00f6glichkeit der Verwendung von GPT-Partitionstabellen (GUID Partition Table) in allen Fedora-Installationen, die UEFI verwenden, beibehalten. Diese \u00c4nderung wurde noch nicht vom FESCo (Fedora Engineering Steering Committee), das f\u00fcr den technischen Teil der Entwicklung des Fedora-Distributions verantwortlich ist, gepr\u00fcft. Bei Genehmigung des Vorschlags wird die Unterst\u00fctzung der Installation von Fedora im UEFI-Modus auf Disks mit MBR-Partitionstabellen (Master Boot Record) auf x86-Systemen eingestellt, jedoch auf ARM- und RISC-V-Systemen beibehalten. <\/p>\n

Als Grund f\u00fcr die Einstellung der Unterst\u00fctzung von MBR wird die geringe Zuverl\u00e4ssigkeit beim Booten in solchen Konfigurationen, die heterogene Unterst\u00fctzung von MBR in Firmware und das Fehlen angemessener Tests in Fedora genannt (in der Dokumentation zu GRUB2 wird empfohlen, GPT f\u00fcr UEFI zu verwenden). Es wird angenommen, dass die Beibehaltung nur der Unterst\u00fctzung f\u00fcr GPT im Anaconda-Installer auf x86-Systemen dazu f\u00fchren wird, dass Notabschaltungen in der Boot-Phase, die durch efibootmgr-Fehler verursacht werden, vermieden werden. Die Einstellung der Unterst\u00fctzung von MBR wird auch die Belastung derjenigen verringern, die den Benutzersupport \u00fcbernehmen, und die Wartung sowie Tests vereinfachen. <\/p>\n

Urspr\u00fcnglich wurde die Unterst\u00fctzung von MBR im UEFI-Modus 2019 in Fedora hinzugef\u00fcgt, um mit Cloud-Plattformen wie AWS, die GPT nicht unterst\u00fctzen, kompatibel zu sein.
