Die Organisation wurde in Deutschland gegr\u00fcndet, um die Entwicklung offener digitaler Infrastrukturen und \u00d6kosysteme mit Open-Source-Software zu f\u00f6rdern. Der Fond wurde mit Mitteln des Bundesministeriums f\u00fcr Wirtschaft und Klimaschutz Deutschlands gegr\u00fcndet und wird vom Bundesamt f\u00fcr Sprunginnovationen SPRIND (Federal Agency for Breakthrough Innovation) betreut.
