Das Bun-Projekt ist in Zig und C++ geschrieben und entwickelt sich mit dem Fokus auf die Kompatibilit\u00e4t zu serverseitigen Anwendungen f\u00fcr Node.js. Es unterst\u00fctzt die meisten Node.js-APIs. Teil der Plattform ist ein Werkzeugset zur Erstellung und Ausf\u00fchrung von Anwendungen in JavaScript und TypeScript sowie ein Runtime f\u00fcr die Ausf\u00fchrung von JavaScript-Anwendungen ohne Browser. Dazu geh\u00f6rt ein Paketmanager (kompatibel mit NPM), ein Testwerkzeug, ein Build-System f\u00fcr eigenst\u00e4ndige Pakete und eine Schnittstelle zum Einbetten von Handlern, die in C geschrieben sind. In Bezug auf die Leistung \u00fcbertrifft Bun sowohl Deno als auch Node.js deutlich: In Tests basierend auf dem React-Framework liegt Bun in der Leistung mit dem Deno-Framework bei der doppelten Geschwindigkeit und fast f\u00fcnfmal schneller im Vergleich zu Node.js. Zum Ausf\u00fchren von JavaScript kommt der JavaScript-Engine JavaScriptCore und Komponenten des WebKit-Projekts mit zus\u00e4tzlichen Patches zum Einsatz.
