Das Projekt entwickelt eine fertige Version des Coreboot-Projekts, die propriet\u00e4re UEFI- und BIOS-Firmware ersetzt, die f\u00fcr die Initialisierung von CPU, Speicher, Peripherieger\u00e4ten und anderen Hardwarekomponenten verantwortlich ist und dabei die bin\u00e4ren Einf\u00fcgungen minimiert.    <\/p>\n<p>Libreboot zielt darauf ab, eine Systemumgebung zu schaffen, die es erm\u00f6glicht, so weit wie m\u00f6glich ohne propriet\u00e4re Software auszukommen, nicht nur auf Betriebssystemebene, sondern auch auf der Firmware-Ebene, die f\u00fcr den Start verantwortlich ist. Libreboot erg\u00e4nzt Coreboot um Funktionen, die die Anwendung durch Endbenutzer erleichtern, indem es ein fertiges Distributionspaket bereitstellt, das jeder Benutzer ohne spezielle F\u00e4higkeiten nutzen kann.  <\/p>\n<p>Im Vergleich zur letzten stabilen Ver\u00f6ffentlichung wurde die Unterst\u00fctzung f\u00fcr HP Pro 3500, Topton XE2 N150, ThinkPad T580 und Dell Latitude E7240 hinzugef\u00fcgt. Es wird an der Unterst\u00fctzung von Google Chromebook-Ger\u00e4ten durch die Integration der coreboot-Distribution MrChromebox gearbeitet. CoreBoot wurde mit dem Repository bis Mitte Januar synchronisiert. Die Canoeboot-Version basiert auf Libreboot 26.01, aus der Komponenten und \u00c4nderungen entfernt wurden, die nicht den Kriterien der Free Software Foundation entsprechen. In der neuen Version von Canoeboot wird die Unterst\u00fctzung f\u00fcr die HP Pro 3500-Serie und das Dell Latitude E7240-Laptop implementiert.    <\/p>\n<p>Die Notwendigkeit, ein separates Build von Libreboot zu erstellen, erkl\u00e4rt sich daraus, dass die durch die FSF formulierten Anforderungen an freie Distributionen die Bereitstellung von bin\u00e4ren Firmware und beliebigen bin\u00e4ren Treiberkomponenten nicht zulassen. Ab 2022 hat das Libreboot-Projekt pragmatischere Regeln f\u00fcr die Nutzung bin\u00e4rer Komponenten eingef\u00fchrt, die es erm\u00f6glichten, das Spektrum der unterst\u00fctzten Hardware erheblich zu erweitern. Das neue Ziel des Libreboot-Projekts ist die Unterst\u00fctzung aller in Coreboot unterst\u00fctzten Hardware, mit Ausnahme bin\u00e4rer Komponenten, die sicherheits- und zuverl\u00e4ssigkeitorientiert sind (zum Beispiel wird in Libreboot me_cleaner verwendet, um Intel ME zu deaktivieren).
