Der Server IRC.mozilla.org plant, in den n\u00e4chsten Monaten stillgelegt zu werden, nach der Migration auf eine der modernen, weborientierten Kommunikationsplattformen. Eine Entscheidung \u00fcber die Wahl der neuen Plattform wurde bisher nicht getroffen, bekannt ist nur, dass Mozilla kein eigenes System entwickeln, sondern eine beliebte fertige L\u00f6sung f\u00fcr Textchats nutzen wird. Die endg\u00fcltige Wahl der neuen Plattform wird nach Gespr\u00e4chen mit der Gemeinschaft getroffen. Der Zugang zu den Kommunikationskan\u00e4len wird eine Authentifizierung und Zustimmung zu <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-US\/about\/governance\/policies\/participation\/\">den Regeln<\/a><\/noindex> der Gemeinschaft.<\/p>\n<p>Als Gr\u00fcnde f\u00fcr den Verzicht auf IRC werden die moralische und technische Veralterung des Protokolls genannt, das in der heutigen Zeit nicht so angenehm ist, wie es sein k\u00f6nnte, oft durch Firewalls blockiert wird und eine ernsthafte H\u00fcrde f\u00fcr den Zugang neuer Teilnehmer zu Diskussionen darstellt.
