In ver\u00f6ffentlichten<\/a><\/noindex> in \u00f6ffentlich zug\u00e4nglichen Dumps historischer Schnappsch\u00fcsse, einschlie\u00dflich einer Datei mit \/etc\/passwd<\/a><\/noindex> den Hashes der Unix-Gr\u00fcnder-Passw\u00f6rter. Da die Passw\u00f6rter mit der DES-Methode gehasht wurden, die f\u00fcr moderne Computertechnik keine Probleme beim Knacken darstellt, versuchten Enthusiasten die Passw\u00f6rter wiederherzustellen,<\/a><\/noindex> die von den Unix-Gr\u00fcndern verwendet wurden.<\/p>\n

Die Passw\u00f6rter fast aller Unix-Gr\u00fcnder wurden fast sofort entschl\u00fcsselt. Zum Beispiel war das Passwort von Brian Kernighan eine leicht einzugebende Kombination von \u201e\/.,\/.,,\u201c; das Passwort von Dennis Ritchie war \u201edmac\u201c, das von Kirk McKusick \u2013 \u201efoobar\u201c und das von Stephen Bourne \u2013 \u201ebourne\u201c.<\/a><\/noindex> fast. Zum Beispiel bestand das Passwort von Brian Kernighan aus der leicht eintippbaren Kombination \u201e\/.,\/.,,\u201c das Passwort von Dennis Ritchie war \u201edmac\u201c, Kirk McKusicks Passwort war \u201efoobar\u201c und Steven Borns Passwort war \u201ebourne\u201c. <\/p>\n

Eine Ausnahme bildete das Passwort von Ken Thompson. Im Jahr 2014 blieb das Passwort nach mehreren Tagen Berechnungen unknackbar. Vor einigen Tagen wurde ein weiterer Versuch unternommen, und nach mehr als 4 Tagen des Knackens mit hashcat auf einem System mit einer AMD Radeon Vega64-Grafikkarte konnte das Passwort entschl\u00fcsselt werden (die Leistung des Knackens lag bei 930 Millionen Hashes pro Sekunde). Das Passwort stellte sich als \u201ep\/q2-q4!\u201c heraus. Schachliebhaber stellten fest, dass dies der Beginn<\/a><\/noindex> ein weiterer Versuch, und nach mehr als 4 Tagen der Passwortsuche mit hashcat auf einem System mit der GPU AMD Radeon Vega64 konnte das Passwort ermittelt werden (die Suchleistung betrug 930 Millionen Hashes pro Sekunde). Das Passwort stellte sich als \u201ep\/q2-q4!\u201c heraus. Schachliebhaber erkannten, dass dies der Anfang einer Reihe von Schachdebutts<\/a><\/noindex> in der beschreibenden Notation<\/a><\/noindex>.
