ttf-parser<\/a> — ist eine Bibliothek zum Parsen von TrueType\/OpenType-Schriften.<\/noindex>
\nDie neue Version bietet umfassende Unterst\u00fctzung f\u00fcr variable Schriftarten.
\n(variable fonts<\/a>) und C API, weshalb ich beschlossen habe, sie im Lore zu bewerben.<\/p>\n

Bis vor kurzem gab es, wenn man mit TrueType-Schriften arbeiten wollte, genau zwei Optionen: FreeType und stb_truetype. Die erste ist ein riesiger Allesk\u00f6nner, die zweite unterst\u00fctzt nur eine recht begrenzte Anzahl von Funktionen.<\/p>\n

ttf-parser liegt irgendwo dazwischen. Er unterst\u00fctzt alle gleichen TrueType-Tabellen (das TrueType-Format besteht aus vielen separaten Bin\u00e4rtabelle), die auch FreeType unterst\u00fctzt, k\u00fcmmert sich aber nicht um das Rendern der Glyphen.<\/p>\n

Gleichzeitig enth\u00e4lt ttf-parser viele andere signifikante Unterschiede:<\/p>\n

  1. ttf-parser ist in Rust geschrieben und verwendet kein unsafe. FreeType und stb_truetype sind in C geschrieben.<\/li>\n
  2. ttf-parser ist die einzige sichere (memory-safe) Implementierung. Das Lesen beliebigen Speichers ist nicht m\u00f6glich. Bei FreeType werden st\u00e4ndig Schwachstellen behoben, und stb_truetype ist prinzipiell nicht daf\u00fcr gedacht, beliebige Schriften zu lesen.<\/li>\n
  3. ttf-parser ist die einzige thread-sichere Implementierung. Alle Parsing-Methoden sind konstant. Die einzige Ausnahme ist das Setzen von Koordinaten f\u00fcr variable Schriften, aber diese Funktion ist reentrant. FreeType ist grunds\u00e4tzlich ein einzelner Thread. stb_truetype \u2014 reentrant (kann in verschiedenen Threads mit separaten Kopien verwendet werden, aber nicht von einer der vielen).<\/li>\n
  4. ttf-parser ist die einzige Implementierung, die keine Allokation im «Heap» verwendet. Dies beschleunigt das Parsen und vermeidet Probleme bei OOM.<\/li>\n
  5. Zudem werden nahezu alle arithmetischen Operationen und die Umwandlung von numerischen Typen \u00fcberpr\u00fcft (einschlie\u00dflich statischer \u00dcberpr\u00fcfungen).<\/li>\n
  6. Im schlimmsten Fall kann die Bibliothek eine Ausnahme ausl\u00f6sen. In diesem Fall werden die Ausnahmen im C-API abgefangen, und die Funktion gibt einen Fehler zur\u00fcck, st\u00fcrzt jedoch nicht ab.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Und trotz aller Sicherheitsgarantien ist ttf-parser auch die schnellste Implementierung. Zum Beispiel ist das Parsing von CFF2 3,5-mal schneller als in FreeType. Das Parsing von glyf ist gleichzeitig 10 % langsamer als in stb_truetype, aber das liegt daran, dass es keine variablen Schriftarten unterst\u00fctzt, f\u00fcr die zus\u00e4tzliche Informationen gespeichert werden m\u00fcssen.
