Anwendungen werden in Form von autarken Paketen im Flatpak-Format bereitgestellt. Die Gr\u00f6\u00dfe <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/endlessos.com\/download\/\">der angebotenen<\/a><\/noindex> Start-Images betr\u00e4gt von <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/mirrors.dotsrc.org\/endless-iso\/release\/3.8.0\/\">2,7<\/a><\/noindex> bis <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/mirrors.dotsrc.org\/endless-iso\/release\/3.8.0\/eos-amd64-amd64\/en\/\">16,4 GB<\/a><\/noindex>. <\/p>\n<p>Das Betriebssystem verwendet keine traditionellen Paketmanager, stattdessen wird ein minimales, atomar aktualisierbares Basissystem angeboten, das im Nur-Lese-Modus funktioniert und mit Hilfe von Werkzeugen  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=37750\">OSTree<\/a><\/noindex> (das System-Image wird atomar aus einem Git-\u00e4hnlichen Repository aktualisiert). Identische Ideen wie bei Endless OS versuchen in letzter Zeit <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=48552\">Entwickler von Fedora im Rahmen des Projekts Silverblue zu wiederholen, das eine atomar aktualisierbare Variante von Fedora Workstation schafft.<\/a><\/noindex> Endless OS geh\u00f6rt zu den Distributionen, die Innovationen unter den Nutzer-Linux-Systemen vorantreiben. Die Arbeitsumgebung in Endless OS basiert auf einem erheblich \u00fcberarbeiteten Fork von GNOME. Dabei engagieren sich die Entwickler von Endless aktiv in der Entwicklung von Upstream-Projekten und geben ihre Erkenntnisse weiter.
