IWD kann sowohl eigenst\u00e4ndig genutzt werden als auch als Backend f\u00fcr Netzwerk-Configurator wie Network Manager und ConnMan fungieren. Das Projekt eignet sich f\u00fcr den Einsatz in eingebetteten Ger\u00e4ten und ist f\u00fcr einen minimalen Verbrauch von Speicher und Speicherplatz optimiert. IWD verwendet keine externen Bibliotheken und greift ausschlie\u00dflich auf die Funktionen des standardm\u00e4\u00dfigen Linux-Kernels zur\u00fcck (f\u00fcr den Betrieb gen\u00fcgt der Linux-Kernel und Glibc). Es enth\u00e4lt eine eigene Implementierung eines DHCP-Clients und eine Reihe <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/git.kernel.org\/pub\/scm\/network\/wireless\/iwd.git\/tree\/src\/crypto.h\">kryptografischer Funktionen<\/a><\/noindex>. Fehler, die mit der Verarbeitung von <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cisco.com\/c\/en\/us\/td\/docs\/wireless\/controller\/technotes\/80211r-ft\/b-80211r-dg.html\">FT AKM<\/a><\/noindex> (Authenticated Key Management Fast Transition), <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/IEEE_802.11ai\">FILS<\/a><\/noindex>  (Fast Initial Link Setup) und <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/wizardfi.com\/wifi\/2019\/01\/23\/finding-owe-in-the-rsne.html\">RSNE<\/a><\/noindex> (Robust Security Network Element) zusammenh\u00e4ngen, wurden behoben.
