Fast fast f\u00fcnf Jahren seit der letzten Ver\u00f6ffentlichung hat das Alpha-Testing der Slackware 15.0-Distribution begonnen. Das Projekt entwickelt sich seit 1993 und ist die \u00e4lteste der heute existierenden Distributionen. Zu den Besonderheiten der Distribution geh\u00f6ren das Fehlen von Komplikationen und das einfache Initialisierungssystem im Stil klassischer BSD-Systeme, was Slackware zu einer interessanten L\u00f6sung f\u00fcr das Studium des Betriebs von Unix-\u00e4hnlichen Systemen, f\u00fcr Experimente und zum Kennenlernen von Linux macht. F\u00fcr den Download wurde ein Installationsabbild mit einer Gr\u00f6\u00dfe von 3,1 GB (x86_64) vorbereitet, sowie ein Build f\u00fcr den Live-Betrieb. <\/p>\n

Der neue Branch ist bemerkenswert durch das Update der Systembibliothek Glibc auf Version 2.33 und den Einsatz des Linux-Kernels 5.10. Mit wenigen Ausnahmen wurden die anderen Pakete aus dem Current-Branch \u00fcbernommen und mit dem neuen Glibc neu compiliert. Beispielsweise wurde die Neukompilierung von Firefox, Thunderbird und Seamonkey aufgeschoben, da f\u00fcr diese zus\u00e4tzliche Patches zur Kompatibilit\u00e4t mit dem im Distribution verwendeten neuen Rust-Compiler erforderlich sind.
