The release of meta-distribution T2 SDE 21.4 has occurred, providing an environment for creating custom distributions, cross-compilation, and maintaining package versions up to date. Distributions can be created based on Linux, Minix, Hurd, OpenDarwin, Haiku, and OpenBSD. Among the popular distributions built on the T2 system is Puppy Linux. The project provides basic bootable ISO images (ranging from 120 to 735 MB) with a minimal graphical environment. Over 2000 packages are available for assembly.
The new release adds support for the RISC-V architecture, increasing the total number of supported hardware architectures to 15 (x86-64, x86, arm64, arm, riscv64, riscv, ppc64le, ppc64-32, ppc, sparc64, mips64, mipsel, hppa, m68k, alpha, and ia64). Cross-compilation for older systems, such as Sony PS3, Sgi Octane, DEC Alpha, and Intel IA64, has been improved. Memory consumption optimizations have made it possible to boot a 32-bit T2 build on systems with i486 processors and 48MB of RAM. A total of 1179 packages have been updated, including versions GNOME 40, Linux kernel 5.11.16, binutils 2.36.1, GCC 10.3, and LLVM/Clang 12, as well as fresh versions of Rust, X.org, Mesa, and KDE.
