Red Hat has announced the creation of a separate team that will oversee activities related to maintaining the EPEL repository. The team's goal is not to replace the community but to organize its continuous support and ensure that EPEL is ready for the next significant release of RHEL. The team has been formed as part of the CPE (Community Platform Engineering) group, which is responsible for maintaining the infrastructure for the development and publication of Fedora and CentOS releases.
Let us recall that the EPEL (Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux) project is responsible for maintaining a repository of additional packages for RHEL and CentOS. Through EPEL, users of distributions compatible with Red Hat Enterprise Linux are offered an additional set of packages from Fedora Linux, supported by the Fedora and CentOS communities. Binary builds are produced for the x86_64, aarch64, ppc64le, and s390x architectures. A total of 7705 binary packages (3971 srpm) are available for download.
