The release of the Lumina desktop environment 1.6.2 has been announced, developed after the discontinuation of TrueOS as part of the Trident project (a desktop distribution of Void Linux). The components of the environment are written using the Qt5 library (without using QML). Lumina adheres to a traditional approach to organizing the user environment. Fluxbox is used as the window manager. Among the changes in the new release:
- The Lumina-checkpass utility designed to verify the correctness of password input in applications like the screen saver has been disabled. This utility is being developed for Lumina 2.0, is not yet ready, and was mistakenly included in version 1.6.1.
- The Lumina-FM file manager has restored the option to open the selected file with root privileges.
- Code from PC-BSD/TrueOS/Project-Trident for qsudo, a component providing graphical applications access to sudo functionality for running tasks with elevated privileges, has been ported.
- The option to customize the application panel icon has been provided, similar to the start menu icon.
- A bug that prevented the activation of the Fluxbox window theme in Lumina-Config has been fixed.
- The initial size of the Lumina-Config window has been increased.
- Build scripts for Fedora, Slackware, and Gentoo Linux have been added.
