The release of Slackel 7.5 has been published, built on the developments of the Slackware and Salix projects, and fully compatible with the repositories they offer. A key feature of Slackel is the use of the continuously updated Slackware-Current branch. The graphical environment is based on the Openbox window manager. The size of the bootable image that can run in Live mode is 2.4 GB (i386 and x86_64). The distribution can be used on systems with 512 MB of RAM.
The new release is synchronized with the current branch of Slackware and comes with the Linux kernel 5.15. Updated software versions include firefox 95.0.2, thunderbird 91.4.1, libreoffice 7.2.0, filezilla 3.56.0, smplayer 21.10.0, gimp 2.10.30. The fbpanel has been implemented along with a set of auxiliary graphical applications for system configuration. Full support for installing the distribution on external USB drives or SSDs is enabled to achieve a portable working environment.
