Igor Sysoev, the creator of the high-performance HTTP server NGINX, has resigned from F5 Network, where he served as one of the technical leaders of the NGINX project after the sale of NGINX Inc. It is noted that his departure is due to a desire to spend more time with family and pursue personal projects. At F5, Igor held the position of Chief Architect. The leadership of NGINX development will now be in the hands of Maxim Konovalov, who serves as Vice President of Engineering for the NGINX product group.
Igor founded NGINX in 2002 and single-handedly managed the entire development until the establishment of NGINX Inc in 2011. Since 2012, Igor has stepped back from routine coding for NGINX, with the main maintenance of the codebase taken over by Maxim Dunin, Valentin Bartenyev, and Roman Arutyunyan. After 2012, Igor's involvement in development focused on server the NGINX Unit applications and the njs engine.
