Konstantin Komarov, founder and CEO of Paragon Software, suggested the inclusion of the first corrective update for the ntfs3 driver in the Linux kernel 5.19. Since ntfs3 was integrated into kernel 5.15 last October, the driver has not been updated, and communication with the developers has been lost, leading to discussions about the necessity of classifying the NTFS3 code as orphaned, followed by the removal of the driver from the kernel.
Now, the developers have resumed publishing changes and have grouped the accumulated set of fixes. Preliminary patches have been added and tested in the linux-next branch. The proposed patches address bugs leading to memory leaks and crashes, resolve issues with running xfstests, clean up unused code, and fix typos. A total of 11 fixes have been proposed.
