A browser-linux distribution has been proposed, designed to run a console Linux environment in a web browser. The project can be used for a quick introduction to Linux without the need to run virtual machines or boot from external media. A streamlined Linux environment is created using Buildroot tools.
To run the assembled build in the browser, the v86 emulator is used, which translates machine code into WebAssembly representation. The localForage library, which works on top of the IndexedDB API, manages the storage. Users have the option to save the environment's state at any moment and subsequently restore their work from the saved position. Output is generated in a terminal window realized using the xterm.js library. Network interaction is managed using udhcpc.
