The release of the desktop-oriented distribution GhostBSD 22.06.15 has been published, built on FreeBSD 13.1-STABLE and offering the MATE desktop environment. By default, GhostBSD uses the ZFS file system. Both Live mode operation and installation on a hard drive are supported (it utilizes its own installer ginstall, written in Python). Boot images are created for the x86_64 architecture (2.7 GB).
In the new version, the installation of the correct NVIDIA driver is automated upon booting in Live mode. The Update Station utility for installing updates ensures that the package is reinstalled if the update attempt fails. The GENERIC kernel has included the BWN_GPL_PHY configuration for building drivers that contain code under the GPLv2 license. It provides recognition of most devices based on Broadcom chips, including iMac. The base system has been updated to the FreeBSD 13.1-STABLE branch as of May 31.
