In the nightly builds of Firefox, which will form the basis for the release of Firefox 104 on August 23, an editing mode has been added to the built-in PDF document viewer interface, offering features such as freehand drawing and attaching comments. To enable the new mode, the pdfjs.annotationEditorMode parameter is suggested on the about:config page. Until now, the editing capabilities built into Firefox were limited to supporting interactive XFA forms, commonly used in electronic forms.
After activating the editing mode, two buttons will appear in the toolbar — for attaching text and graphic (freehand drawings) annotations. Color, line thickness, and font size can be adjusted through the menus associated with the buttons. Right-clicking opens a context menu that allows for selecting, copying, pasting, and cutting elements, as well as undoing and redoing changes.
