The release of the server-side Linux distribution SME Server 10.1 has been introduced, built on the package base of CentOS 7 and intended for use in the server infrastructure of small and medium businesses. A key feature of the distribution is the presence of pre-configured standard components, fully ready for operation and customizable via a web interface. Among these components are a mail server with spam filtering, a web server, a print server, file archiving, a directory service, a firewall, etc. The size of the ISO images is 1.5 GB and 635 MB.
Among the changes in the new release:
- Transition from MySQL 5.1 to MariaDB 5.5 has been made.
- Dovecot has been used for accessing mail via IMAP, IMAPS, POP3, and POP3S protocols.
- Improved log processing.
- Updated versions of bglibs and cvm-unix.
- Backup now includes data from components in the Contribs section.
- Improved handling of SSL-certificates.
- Encrypted communication is now available across all supported services.
- php-fpm has been used instead of mod_php for executing PHP scripts.
- Most services have been transitioned to using systemd.
